“We the People” call upon our elected leaders to take immediate and responsible action by raising minimum monthly Social Security benefits, improving the COLA formula so it accurately reflects the true cost of living for seniors, reducing taxes on Social Security benefits, increasing payroll tax caps for the highest earners to help strengthen the system, and providing stronger protections for widows and low-income seniors who are among the most financially vulnerable in our society.
This is not a partisan issue. Americans from all social classes understand that seniors should not be forced into poverty after spending a lifetime building and supporting this country. Our nation is judged by how it treats its elderly, and now is the time for Congress to show courage, compassion, and accountability by protecting the financial security and dignity of America’s seniors.
